TARGET CROPS
Many crops; Not recommended for tomato
DESCRIPTION
Amblyseius swirskii is a predatory mite used to control immature stages of thrips. It also feeds on whiteflies, pest mites and pollen. Adults have 8 legs and the body is a whole unit as opposed to segmented. It has relatively few hairs on its back, 20 pairs at most. It is not possible to distinguish A. swirskii in the field from A. cucumeris. The color of A. swirskii depends on what the mites have been eating. This can vary from dark red to purple, to light yellow.
Mode of action:Predatory mites search for their prey or wait for it to pass by, then suck it dry.
